Spending a lot of time in the gym does not guarantee the best results. On the other hand, staying healthy on a busy schedule is often deemed impossible as a lot of people have to work 40 hours or more a week and at the same time sort out family, religious, and social responsibilities.

Here are a few tips to help you gain the most while reducing the time spent in the gym

Prepare Yourself

Before hitting the gym, make sure you are fully prepared for it. Create your playlist at home, set your headphones, refill your water bottles, all these little things add up to waste your precious gym time. Make sure you’re ready to start your workout as soon as you step into the gym.

One of the biggest mistakes people make in the gym is wasting time chatting with their friends, discussing politics, TV shows or sporting events. They do everything except what they came to do during this sacred time. Another thing that wastes your time at the gym is your phone, avoid all forms of distractions.

Be Strategic

When you get to the gym, it is important you do the most difficult and important exercises first.

This way you’ve prioritized the highest yield exercises and concentrated on the movements that will give you the biggest return on your investment. Even when you have to cut your workout short, you will have gained something.

Go For The Most Effective Exercise

When planning your workout, let your trainer know you want to do as many compound exercises as possible because you’re pressed for time. This way you are training multiple muscles simultaneously. It will decrease the total number of workout sessions you need to do daily making you spend less time in the gym.

Use workout videos at home

If you’re really pressed for time and you maybe have to spend another 15-20 minutes to get to the gym, please use workout videos at home. There are many effective workout videos on YouTube. Try highly intensive interval training (HIIT) workout videos to burn more calories in a short time.
